Full Day Whale Watching Adventure
Befriend the whales on our most popular tour.


    This exhilarating whale watching tour maximizes time in the water and allows you to bond with the gray whales and the lagoon surroundings. Your day begins at our eco-camp where you can enjoy complimentary coffee and tea as your local guide prepares you for your memorable whale watching experience. En route to the observation area you will have the opportunity to observe migrating sea birds, and on many mornings even bottlenose dolphin and endangered sea turtles. You will spend the morning admiring the whales in their winter breeding and nursing habitat, where fantastic viewing opportunities abound. Our experienced captains and guides share their knowledge and stories of whale watching and help you understand the whale behaviors you are witnessing. After your morning whale watching we’ll take a break for a delicious Mexican lunch on a pristine sandy beach or near a mangrove estuary. Here you can explore and take photos of whale bones, sand dunes and millions of sea shells. Following lunch we will reenter the gray whale observation area where you'll delight at the opportunity to spend more time with these gentle giants. While traveling in Baja be sure not to miss this breathtaking opportunity to experience the gray whales on their annual migration in their winter breeding and nursing habitat.

Half Day Whale Watching Tour
Meet the whales on our traditional day trip.

    Join us for a 3 hour whale watching tour where you will visit with the whales in the authorized observation area and enjoy an encounter that will make a lifelong impression. The boat ride along the lagoon shores gives you a perfect chance to bird watch. Make sure to stay on the lookout for bottlenose dolphin!

    10:00am - 1:00pm, 2:00pm - 5:00pm
    Trip Length: Approximately 3 hours
    Total Time in Observation Area: 1.5 Hours
    Adults: $50.00 USD

Living Laguna Package

    Our all-inclusive Living Laguna Package includes our Full Day Whale Watching Tour (*double the amount of whale watching time than most day visitor’s experience). Also included is one night accommodation in our shore side beach shacks. Our beach shacks offer spectacular views of the lagoon with a wall of oversized windows which also keeps the cabins feeling fresh and open.

    If you choose to arrive in the late afternoon enjoy dinner and awake to coffee and breakfast before your whale watching trip which includes lunch on the beach.

    If you prefer a morning arrival coffee and tea await you before you head out on your whale watching journey with included beach lunch. Back at camp enjoy sunset and dinner before stargazing and your night in our beach shacks. Breakfast is served in the morning before your departure.

    Our Living Laguna Package includes: 1 Full Day Whale Watching Tour, 1 night accommodation based on double occupancy, 3 meals, use of all camp facilities, required El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve daily park pass and IVA taxes.

Laguna Luna Package

    Our all-inclusive Laguna Luna Package is for the traveler that wants an overnight at San Ignacio Lagoon and one of our Half-Day Whale Watching Tours. If your time in the lagoon is short and you need to move on to the next great Baja adventure then this is the package for you. It includes our Half-Day Whale Watching Tour, one night accommodation in our shore side beach shacks, and 3 meals.

    Arrive in the late afternoon before happy hour and dinner. If you arrive early enough there is a fantastic shore walk from camp. Check out the amazing star show of San Ignacio Lagoon before heading off to bed in your beach shack. In the morning coffee/tea, breakfast and an introduction to the lagoon by our staff will start off your Half Day Whale Watching adventure. Back at the camp enjoy lunch before departure.

Why not stay for the night?

    Staying overnight lagoon-side gives you the opportunity to appreciate the wildlife of San Ignacio Lagoon on one of our guided tours then come back to shore and take a break from civilization in the peaceful setting of the Lagoon.

    Staying in one of our five beach shacks is the perfect way to enjoy the natural surroundings of the Biosphere Reserve while staying away from the pack.

    Explore the remote shores of San Ignacio Lagoon by day then let the nighttime stargazing fascinate you, until the coyotes signal it’s time for bed.

    All of our beach shacks provide our guests with spectacular lagoon views and photo defying sunsets. A wall of oversized windows provides fresh air circulation taking advantage of the shifting lagoon wind patterns. Each beach shack is solar powered and simply furnished with two beds. They offer their own outdoor sitting areas. Bedding and purified water are provided. Clean showers and composting bathrooms are shared and are located close by. Our desalinated shower water is trucked in from the local village. We promote water conservation efforts as well as the use of biodegradable products.

    *Beach Shack accommodations are included in our Living Laguna and Laguna Luna Packages.

Get close to nature. Bring your tent or van for beautiful camping along the shore the lagoon. We are the perfect pit–stop on the road to Scorpion Bay.

 

Camping

    Our location on the shores of San Ignacio Lagoon is perfect for tent or vehicle based camping. You can choose to camp close to our facilities or further off for privacy, it's up to you. Once you arrive and see our camp along the shore line we can show you possible areas to set up camp and you can pick the best spot for your group. Here there are no bad campsites, each have a magnificent view of the Lagoon and surrounding desert, mountains, and volcanoes.

    Due to the strong winds of San Ignacio Lagoon we recommend tents with at least 3 poles (fly not included).

    $5.00 USD/pp/night
    Camping fee provides access to camp facilities.

 

 

Shrimp and fish tacos are just some of the tasty food prepared by our chefs. .
Our chefs use fresh seafood from the lagoon and produce from the local ranches.

Meals

Pachico's Eco Tours serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner offering a simple menu in a casual family atmosphere. The chefs at Pachico’s create tasty dishes utilizing local seafood and produce. Guests enjoy fresh scallops as large as hockey pucks, local sea bass and halibut as the season permits. Our restaurant is located in the camp center where you can spend time looking through our collection of Natural History books and articles or just sit back and enjoy the view. At meals, guests trade stories about whale encounters, desert surprises, and all things Baja. After dinner the stars put on their nightly show before you head off to your beach shack.
